Leduc Drama Society presents Head Over Heels
Songs by The Go-Go's
Based upon The Arcadia by Sir Philip Sidney
Conceived and original book by Jeff Whitty
Adapted by James Magruder

An epic love story based on Philip Sidney’s Arcadia.”Head Over Heels," the bold new musical comedy from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," "Avenue Q," and "Spring Awakening."
This laugh-out-loud love story is set to the music of the iconic 1980’s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s, including the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.”
A hilarious, exuberant celebration of love, "Head Over Heels" follows the escapades of a royal family on an outrageous journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction—only to discover the key to their realm’s survival lies within each of their own hearts.

3) Complete the audition google form: https://forms.gle/pfkdS3B6WoX4m8Qg8
4) Read the script! Seriously, please read the scripts before you audition! https://broadwaylicensing.com/.../broadway/head-over-heels/
5) Choose a song! Guidelines below.

Audition Preparation
When choosing a song for your initial audition, there are two options:
1) A song from the show (list available at script link above)
2) A song not from the show but one close in period and style; your generation is most assuredly aware of current musical theatre and its composers and styles so those auditioning are welcome to make an informed choice if you choose this option.
Please bring a device on which to play your instrumental track (we will try to have all the hookup options for you)

Character Descriptions are listed below:

Basilius (masculine presenting)
King of Arcadia. A hothead, but not a despot. Basilius blindly thinks Arcadia is doing great under his rule.
Vocal range: tenor

Gynecia (feminine presenting)
Queen of Arcadia: wise, sceptical of her husbands rule.
Vocal range: alto

Pythio (non-binary – ideally seeking a performer who falls outside the gender binary)
The Oracle; powerful, mysterious. Demanding. Great sense of humor–can see through everyone–they are the Oracle of Delphi, after all.
Vocal range: alto or tenor

Pamela (feminine presenting)
Basilius and Gynecia’s older daughter. Confident and obsessed with her appearance. Known to be the most beautiful bachelorette throughout Arcadia.
Vocal range: mezzo-soprano/belt

Philoclea (feminine presenting)
Basilius and Gynecia’s younger daughter. Shy and a “good girl”, she
yearns to follow her heart rather than obey her father’s orders.
Vocal range: soprano/belt

Dametas (masculine presenting)
The King’s viceroy; father to Mopsa.
Vocal range: tenor, baritone, bass

Mopsa (feminine presenting)
Handmaiden to Pamela. Warm, skeptical. Growing up without a mother has made her wise beyond her years about everyone and everything,
Vocal range: mezzo-soprano/belt

Musidorus (masculine presenting)
A young shepherd who courts after Philoclea. A very offbeat hero who is great with physical comedy.
Vocal range: tenor

Ensemble
